Position: Mechanical Buyer
Department: Stores Division
Reporting to: Stores Manager
Status of post: Full-Time Permanent
Salary: Remuneration Package will be competitive and in line with experience

Job Description

The role will be based in our Head Office, Portadown will be pivotal to Irwin M&E’s ongoing growth and success. It is vital the successful candidate can work as part of the dynamic purchasing team. The purpose of the role is to provide full support to the stores team while receiving full on the job training, but not be limited to the following

  • Request, collate and analyse quotations for appropriate materials
  • Place orders with suitable suppliers for specified materials ensuring goods are delivered on the required date and purchased at the most competitive rates, and within budget
  • Keep a constant check on stock levels
  • Produce reports and statistics on spending and saving
  • Control and reconcile van stock levels
  • Assist in managing vehicle fleet, maintenance and servicing
  • Control of calibrations of plant and equipment
  • Day to day stores operations

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate good team ethos
  • Grade C or above in GCSE maths or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Trade experience
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Good knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Strong numeracy skills with good attention to detail
  • Able to adhere to deadlines
  • Articulate with clear verbal communication skills
