Job Description

The Bid Writer will be based in our Belfast office, with occasional travel to Portadown.

This is a new role in our growing Bid and Marketing team. The successful applicant will be responsible for producing compliant, compelling bids across mechanical, electrical, energy and renewables installation and maintenance projects.

The job role will include:

  • Working with the Bid and Marketing Team to produce written bid responses for PQQ and ITT submissions
  • Writing content for public and private sector bids, ensuring they comply with the specification
  • Writing effective, concise and compelling content under deadlines
  • Reviewing and editing previously written content where necessary, working with other bid team members and Irwin Subject Matter Experts to gather evidence and craft compelling responses
  • Ensuring all bid submissions are in line with the specification and instructions
  • Preparing content for bid presentations
  • Maintaining and continually improving the company’s bid library, including case studies, team member CVs, etc. in conjunction with marketing colleagues
  • Supporting other bid team members to give them confidence to write and produce materials themselves

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in public sector bid writing
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Excellent personal organisation, honesty, communication, ownership, reliability and dependability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to create meaningful reciprocal relationships with both colleagues and clients
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to demonstrate good team ethos
  • Full driving licence
  • IT literate, e.g., proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel or similar

Desirable Criteria

Whilst not essential, it would be advantageous for the candidate to have:

  • Hold a third-level degree, or similar
  • Previous experience within the construction/FM/mechanical/electrical industry
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
