Every year we enter several teams to take part in the Belfast City marathon to raise money for a nominated charity.

We support several local charities, through both monetary donations and helping out where we can. We take part in gardening projects, spin-a-thons and breakfast mornings, etc. to help give back to the local community.

Take a look at our Corporate Responsibility page to see what we have been up to recently.

Ursula Hughes, Contracts Performance Manager

I started my career with Irwin as a Quantity Surveying Administrator. This role introduced me to the inner workings of contracts and how jobs were managed from start to finish. This knowledge helped me to progress to my current role, Contracts Performance Manager.

Over the past number of years, I have been able to develop and improve my knowledge on the building, mechanical and electrical workings of jobs. At Irwin there is support for your development from all departments of the business and everyone is keen to see you flourish in your career. Everyone within the company is very approachable and supportive, and everyone is treated as equals no matter what your role may be. Irwin has encouraged, guided and supported me to achieve my current position and continue to do so on a daily basis.

Stephen Galwey, Electrical Quantity Surveying Manager

I am a fully qualified electrician and have been in the electrical industry for over 10 years. I started with Irwin as an Electrical Apprentice working within various sectors such as health and local government which allowed me to gain a wealth of experience onsite.

After becoming fully qualified, I was given the opportunity to progress my career further and started a role as Junior Electrical Quantity Surveyor. In 2019, I was promoted to Electrical Quantity Surveyor which involved overseeing the financial performance of various contracts. I am now looking forward to undertaking my new role as Electrical Quantity Surveying Manager with the help and support from the Senior Management Team. I feel that I have been given great career development opportunities and look forward to what the future holds at Irwin !

Ross Wiley, Electrician

I have been with Irwin for six years. For me, it was a no-brainier to learn a trade while getting paid and I highly recommend Irwin.

I started with the company as a first-year electrical apprentice, working in many different commercial and industrial sites. Whilst I was doing my apprenticeship, I gained a huge amount of knowledge and experience from the maintenance and installation contracts. I’m grateful for all my managers and office staff that have helped me along the way, especially the guys that took me under their wing from the beginning of my journey in this industry as they have helped me become the competent electrician I am today.

I now live in Belfast and work on the Education Maintenance contract, working in and around schools doing reactive work. Every day is a school day as you get various jobs with different challenges along the way.

I would highly recommend an Irwin apprenticeship to all school leavers, particularly if you are seeking a career as an electrician. The company has been an excellent help along my journey, and has given me all the training and platforms I needed to succeed.

Shaun Bonnett, Electrical Contracts Supervisor

Starting my apprenticeship with Irwin in 2015 I was in the slightly unusual position of being in my mid-twenties and looking for a complete career change. Seven years later I know that I made the right decision.

Since joining Irwin I have gained valuable knowledge and experience in electrical maintenance and installation. I have had multiple opportunities and been supported in undertaking internal and external training courses.

Career development and progression is very much encouraged and who knows what valuable experiences I will have in the next seven years.

Even though we may not always be advertising positions, we are always excited to hear from talented people.

In particular we are keen to hear from Electricians, Electrical Test Engineers, Electrical Supervisors, Gas/Oil Engineers, Heating and Plumbing Engineers, Biomass Engineers, Boiler Technicians and both Electrical and Mechanical (Plumbing) Apprentices.

Please feel free to send us your CV and we will get back to you.

We’re waiting to hear from you
