Role Purpose
To lead and coordinate the preparation, submission, and successful delivery of competitive, compliant, and commercially robust tender bids. The role is responsible for managing the bid process from initial review through to tender adjudication, negotiation, and award.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review tender documentation in detail to identify requirements, risks, opportunities, and compliance obligations.
  • Conduct initial tender assessments and determine bid strategy, resource requirements, and submission timelines.
  • Raise and manage technical, commercial, and contractual tender queries with clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams involved in bid preparation, ensuring responsibilities and deadlines are clearly communicated and achieved.
  • Develop, review, and submit competitive and fully compliant tender submissions in accordance with client requirements.
  • Ensure all bid documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with company standards and governance procedures.
  • Lead tender presentations and represent the business during client meetings, negotiations, and clarification sessions.
  • Participate in and contribute to tender adjudication meetings, providing commercial and strategic recommendations.
  • Monitor bid progress and proactively address issues that may impact submission quality or programme.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on tender status, key risks, opportunities, and outcomes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned and implementing best practice within the estimating and bid process.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in estimating, bid management, or tendering within a mechanical or electrical sector
  • Strong understanding of tender processes, commercial principles, and contract documentation.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and make informed commercial decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant estimating and bid management software.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within an estimating, bid management or pre-construction role, with a proven track record in Mechanical and Electrical contracting.
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical and Electrical building services installations and associated regulations.
  • Experience leading and managing tender submissions from enquiry through to contract award.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, schedules and contract documentation.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in pricing, risk assessment and value engineering.
