In this role you will play a key role within the mechanical department, working on MTC Contracts using PSA schedule of rates, whilst providing continued support to other departments.
Job Description
The role of the Mechanical Quantity Surveyor will be pivotal to Irwin M&E’s ongoing growth and success and the job role will include:
- Working alongside Contract Managers/Supervisors in planning, scheduling and carrying out work
- Liaising, negotiating and relationship building with clients and consultants on an ongoing basis
- Arrange and carry out regular QS meetings with clients to ensure measures are agreed promptly and proactively
- Preparation of pre-measured budget costs and preparation of measurement for final account/interim valuations
- Contract administration and cost control
- Dealing with client queries and negotiation of valuations/measurements
- Attend meetings and undertake site visits
Essential Criteria
- C&G Level 2&3 in Mechanical Engineering Services
- Working knowledge of current Health and Safety Legislation
- IT literate, e.g. proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel or similar
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate good team ethos
- To be methodical, pay attention to detail and be accurate
- To be self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative
- To be willing to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks
- An ability to achieve demanding time and quality targets
- Excellent numeracy skills
- Full driving licence
Desirable Criteria
Whilst not essential it would be advantageous for the candidate to have:
- Worked with Measured Term Contracts
- Experience in Education, Healthcare and Commercial sectors
- Use of specialised software packages such as Amtech Contract Costing
- HNC – Building Services Engineering or higher
- CSR Card
