Project Completion | Keynsham Recycling Hub, Pixash, Bristol
In line with Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Net Zero Carbon Targets, we recently completed the design and build M&E works at the new Keynsham Recycling Hub, Pixash Lane for main contractor Farrans Construction. The project was for the delivery of a modern public Re-Use and Recycling Centre, Material Recovery Facility and an MOT Centre, and also incorporates a salt barn, ancillary offices and welfare facilities.
The project was designed with careful consideration of all environmental factors as the Council aims to achieve Net Carbon Zero by 2030. The scheme includes over 800kW of Solar PV panels, hot water generation by Air Source Heat Pumps, intelligent internal and external controls and EV Charging points for the Council’s fleet of electric refuse collection lorries.
Due to the high fire risk, the Material Recovery Facility also had a complex Fire Detection and Suppression system installed which includes flame detection system, sprinklers, deluge water cannons and a below ground fire hydrant network with onsite water storage tanks of 456,000 litres capacity.
