BIM Coordinator (Ref: BIMC1126)

Role overview

Irwin is looking for a BIM Coordinator with MEP experience. You’ll take ownership of MEP model coordination on your allocated projects and deliver coordinated installation drawings to agreed programme dates. You’ll need experience using Revit and AutoCAD and a good understanding of how MEP services are installed and maintained.

MEP modelling

• Develop detailed Revit models for HVAC, plumbing and electrical services.
• Model ductwork, pipework, containment and equipment, and create or adapt Revit families to suit the project.
• Check models against project specifications and applicable standards.

Drawing production

• Produce coordinated installation and fabrication information, including plans, sections, elevations and schedules. Prepare details for plantrooms, risers, builders’ work in connection (BWIC) and prefabrication where required.
• Check that drawings show coordinated service routes and allow for installation and maintenance access.
• Work with engineers, architects and project teams to incorporate design changes into the drawings.
• Manage drawing deliverables against the agreed programme and flag missing information or risks to issue dates to the BIM Manager.

Model coordination

• Manage MEP coordination on allocated projects. Use Navisworks to run clash checks, track outstanding issues and follow them through with the relevant teams.
• Coordinate MEP services with the architectural and structural models to develop layouts that can be installed on site.
• Attend coordination meetings, raise outstanding issues and follow up on agreed actions.

Quality checks

• Check models and drawings for accuracy and completeness before issue.
• Review design information against project requirements and flag gaps or discrepancies that affect coordination or installation.
• Update models and drawings to reflect agreed changes and review comments.

Document control

• Work with Document Control to issue drawings and models through the project Common Data Environment (CDE), such as Viewpoint, Aconex or Asite.
• Follow the project’s file naming, revision and issue procedures.

Qualifications and skills

• Experience modelling MEP services in Autodesk Revit and producing drawings in AutoCAD.
• Experience using Navisworks for clash detection and model coordination.
• Good understanding of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems and their practical installation requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience taking responsibility for MEP coordination and drawing delivery on allocated projects.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with design and project teams.
• Familiarity with tools such as Dynamo would be an advantage.
